Beyond the skiing at Deer Valley Resort, surprisingly there aren’t that many Deer Valley activities that are actually located at the resort (which is why it doesn't quite score full marks from us for family friendliness – see the
USA ski resort ratings). There are lots of activities in nearby Park City or the surrounding areas.
Park City Cat Skiing and Heli Skiing
Snowcat skiing is offered by
Park City Powder Cats, which is located just 25 miles east of Park City. Cat skiing is a form of guided backcountry skiing and a fabulous way to get away from the crowds to ski fresh powder. It is sort of like heli skiing except instead of a helicopter, a snowcat with a cabin on the back is used to transport guests up the mountain. Snowcat skiing is very inexpensive compared to heli skiing. With more than 40,000 acres (about 17,000 hectares), Park City Powder Cats has more terrain than the skiable area of all the
Utah ski resorts combined, so that’s a lot of fresh powder lines!
Park City Powder Cats also offer heli skiing on a private charter basis.

Other Utah Ski Tours
The Utah Interconnect Tour is another way to go backcountry skiing to find some freshies. This is a unique tour that takes skiers across four to six Utah ski resorts and the backcountry areas between them. Do it before the whole area becomes One Wasatch!
Cross Country Skiing
Nearby there are cross-country ski opportunities with White Pine Touring, Homestead Resort or Soldier Hollow.
Deer Valley Day Spas
There are various Deer Valley day spas if you are in need of some R&R. The 5-star
Stein Eriksen Lodge has a spa, which offers various treatments including massages, body treatments, soothing stone treatments, and facials. As to be expected for luxurious pampering, the relaxing treatments come with a high price tag.
The Chateaux has the Tranquility Spa which has a full menu of spa treatments and packages. The “ski-in ski-out” package sounds fantastic!
The other luxury Deer Valley hotels aren’t to be outdone either, with beautiful day spas at the St Regis Hotel and the Montage Hotel.
There are also many other day spas and massage services around the Park City area.

Other Deer Valley Winter Activities
All Seasons Adventures is an activity company that offers dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing tours in the Empire Canyon, and hot air ballooning. Most of these activities are based elsewhere in Park City.

Park City Family Activities
There are plenty of family friendly activities around the Park City area. Tubing is available at Woodward (formerly Gorgoza Park) with multiple lanes serviced by a couple of magic carpets. This is not just for the kids. Adults will have a great giggle as well, as they’d want to considering the cost.
Similarly there are plenty of family activities at the
Utah Olympic Park to entertain both adults and children including tubing, zip-lining, and museum tours.

Adventure Activities
The
Utah Olympic Park also has bobsledding which is a super rush of adrenaline for adventure seekers. It’s not for the faint of heart!!
There are also various snowmobile tour operators around the Park City area.

Events
Deer Valley and the Park City area commonly host various events including ski and snowboard championships. Robert Redford’s Sundance Film Festival is probably the biggest event that takes the area by storm in late January. Bookings for Park City and
Deer Valley lodging during this time need to be made well in advance.
Other Activities
See the
Park City activities page for more information on things to do around the area.
