Red Mountain and the Rossland area have a range of activities including ski tours, family activities, adventure activities and some relaxing opportunities for those who just need a rest.

Red Mountain Cat Skiing

Big Red Cats is based at Red Mountain and offers great cat skiing nearby. This is a great powder hound activity with opportunities to sniff out plenty of fresh powder. This is a very slick and safety conscious operation, and they provide the flexibility of single or multi-day packages. It’s a “must do” but you’ll need to book well in advance as it sells out early.

Other Ski Activities

There are various backcountry touring operations at Red Mountain that offer single day backcountry tours, multi-day tours staying overnight in a lodge or yurt, backcountry awareness education tours, and avalanche skills training.

Cross country skiing is available with the Blackjack Cross Country Club which is 3km north of Rossland across the highway from Red Mountain Resort. They have 40km of ski trails.

Le Petit Fromage is a combination of a cross country skiing experience with a fondue dinner. Diners ski to a hut where they enjoy a French fondue meal by candlelight. Ski rentals are available.

Family Activities

Snowshoe rentals are available from the Red Mountain equipment rental shop, or alternatively go ice-skating at the Rossland Arena.

Leisure Activities

If you want some purpose to a leisurely stroll, you can do a walking self-tour around historic Rossland. Check your hotel or accommodation for a brochure and map.

On the outskirts of town is the Rossland Historic Museum where you can partake in a tour that provides the history of Rossland as a booming gold mining town.
