Driving to Kuhtai

Driving a rental car to Kühtai is the best way to get there, and can be done from the east or west. Both routes start on the A12 motorway which travels along the Inn River valley, the approach from the east is the better road in icy conditions.

From the east, drive via Innsbruck. The city of Innsbruck is a major transport hub in the Alps and travelling there by car is quite straight forward from most locations across Europe. The 40km drive from Innsbruck to Kuehtai is along an excellent road that doesn't give any hint one is climbing to a lofty 2020m resort base. From the A12, take the Zirl turnoff east of Innsbruck and head south through Unterperfuss, then Sellrain and Gries on the L13 road. Travel time to Kuhtai is 50min in good conditions.

From the west is via St Anton, Landeck & Imst. Leaving the A12 one heads south on route 186 into the Ōtztal to the town of Oetz . The ski resorts of Soelden & Obergurgl Hochgurgl are further in to the Oetztal. At the town of Oetz, turn left onto the L237 & climb for 18km to Kühtai via Ochsengarten. A more dramatic journey than from the east, the road is prone to increased ice and snow on the road leading to more slippery conditions. The journey time is 25min from Oetz.

For day trippers, car parking is free and located at either end of the village adjacent to ski lifts & ticket offices. Most accommodation has underground parking at each establishment.

Car Rental & Hire
