Like many Japanese ski resorts, the magnitude and scope of the services and amenities at
Geto Kogen seems out of keeping with the small size of the ski area. The services and facilities also seem very well developed for a ski resort that only has a glorified capsule hostel (the
Geto Kogen Lodge) for accommodation.
Many of the ski resort facilities are housed in a cold massive building that looks like a space station!
The majority of gaijin that visit Geto Kogen are powder hounds, and are therefore unlikely to use most of the amenities.
Eating On Mountain
Of course you’ll need fuel at lunchtime to charge through all that powder!
Upstairs there’s a huge self-service cafeteria that has a good range of typical ski resort cafeteria fare. Downstairs is a little café that’s good for drinks or grabbing something on the run.
Facilities for Children
There is childcare available by appointment (Japanese speaking staff only) but we can’t imagine that you’ll be needing that!
Ski and Snowboard School
Geto Kogen offers ski and snowboard lessons with Japanese speaking instructors. Hopefully you won’t be needing lessons either!
Ski and Snowboard Rental
Geto has ski and snowboard rentals that are somewhat pricey. BYO equipment including safety gear because their rental gear is best suited to riders that stay on-piste.
Other Facilities & Services
There are a couple of retail shops with the standard Japanese food gifts and tacky souvenirs.
Free wifi is available.
