Las Lenas Activities

There is not much in the way of Las Lenas winter activities besides the skiing or snowboarding, drinking and eating, and gambling in the little casino. There’s no tubing for the kids, no sleigh rides, dog sledding, snowmobiling, or other winter activities that you commonly find at high profile ski resorts.

Las Lenas Cat Skiing

The Las Leñas cat skiing program is conducted in a beautiful area that feels very remote and far away from the bustle of the village, even though it’s reasonably close to the top of the ski resort. The snowcat offers an easy way to access fantastic backcountry terrain and virgin snow. The cat skiing program is called the “Extreme Expedition” but if you’re not a pro-rider don’t fear that you’ll have mandatory drops or chutes as wide as your skis, because the cat skiing caters well to advanced riders, with wide open bowls and slopes that are steep without being near-vertical.

The guided program is for a half-day or full day, and because it’s held way up high in the alpine backcountry it’s very weather dependent and doesn’t operate every day. During your week-long stay at Las Lenas you might have to go on a waiting list to go snowcat skiing, so book as early as you can via the Las Lenas ski school.

Las Lenas heli skiing is no longer offered by the resort.

Las Lenas Ski Guiding and Excursions

If you want to make the most of all the fabulous terrain at Las Lenas you should hire a guide from the ski school. This is particularly advantageous if it’s a day when the Marte chair is open.

Having a guide provides huge advantages such as being able to ride the best lines and find the egress, you won’t get cliffed out (unless you want to), you can skip the lift queues, and your guide can organise a driver to pick you up from lines that terminate on the road. The guides operate in close association with the ski patrol, which also provides plenty of pros.

You’ve got the choice of riding lift-accessed terrain, full backcountry touring, or a combination of both.

Depending on the currency exchange the guiding is pretty expensive. The cost is fixed for 1-2 people and then you pay a little more for each additional guest.

Relaxation

A few of the Las Lenas hotels have hot tubs and heated swimming pools, which is a nice way to relax after the full body workout on the slopes.

Or for the ultimate in relaxation, a few of the hotels have day spas that offer massage treatments (including yummy hot stone massage) and other body treatments.
