Salt Lake City Hotels & Motels
Many people on a Utah ski vacation choose to stay in Salt Lake City rather than on-mountain at the ski resorts. The lodging in SLC is generally better value for money than Snowbird, Alta and Solitude, and it is definitely cheaper than
Park City lodging. Other benefits of staying in Salt Lake City include having access to a range of dining options, nightlife, shopping and non-alpine activities. The obvious disadvantage is the commute to the ski fields, and sometimes after a big storm, the roads up the canyons may be closed due to avalanche precautions. The road up the tight Little Cottonwood Canyon is particularly avalanche prone.
There is SLC lodging to suit every budget; from deluxe to Motel 6s. Accommodations are mainly hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts, and there also a handful of condos and lodges.
Salt Lake City Hotels Downtown
You can stay downtown, right in the middle of the action near the Salt Lake City Convention Center and Temple Square.
Examples of quality lodgings are the
Hilton Salt Lake City Centre,
Marriott Salt Lake City Center and the
Sheraton.

Salt Lake City Airport Accommodations
There is a plethora of options for accommodation near the airport. The SLC airport hotels provide good value for money, but other than the airport, there’s not much around the hotels in the way of dining or shopping. If you don’t mind getting in the car to go out at night time, or to see the city, then this option can be great for the budget conscious.

Salt Lake City ski resorts, you can stay in suburbs in close proximity to the mouth of the canyons. These suburbs include Midvale, Sandy and Cottonwood Heights.
Cottonwood Heights is 17 miles (28km) from downtown SLC and is even closer to the Cottonwood Canyons (
Snowbird,
Alta,
Solitude,
