Salt Lake City is located in northern Utah, USA. The city is in a large valley between the Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountain ranges, 15 miles (24km) east of the Great Salt Lake.

Salt Lake City Flights

The Salt Lake City international airport is serviced by many airlines including United, Continental, American and TWA, and SLC serves as a major hub for Delta Airlines. Most flights into the airport are from other US cities, but there are also flights from Canada. Airport Transportation

The airport is only about 10 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. Many of the downtown Salt Lake City hotels provide a complimentary airport shuttle service, or there are many private transport services or taxis available. Most of these private transport companies also provide a service to the ski hills.

Getting Around SLC

Navigating the grid-like streets of Salt Lake City is easy on foot or in the car. All street addresses are based on the distance from Temple Square. From there the streets are numbered in increments of 100. For example a business located at 550 South 200 West is five and half blocks south and two blocks west of Temple Square.

A rental car provides the ultimate in flexibility to get around SLC and to the ski resorts. Alternatively there is public transport.

Public Transport: Utah Transit Authority (UTA) provides a light rail service known as TRAX. It connects the central parts of the city, and offers a regular service, although there is no service on Sundays. To get further afield UTA has many different bus routes including services to Snowbird, Alta, Brighton, Solitude and Sundance ski resorts. Check the Ride UTA website for schedules, fares and routes.

Private transportation: There are various private companies offering transportation from SLC to Little Cottonwood Canyon (Snowbird, Alta) and Big Cottonwood Canyon (Solitude, Brighton). Canyon Hop and Canyon Transportation are examples.
