Most of the Red Mountain ski resort facilities and services can be found at the base of the resort in the large day lodge. One commonality of the amenities and services is that everything is rather affordable.

Red Mountain Ski Rentals, Snowboard Rental

Red Resort has an equipment rental shop in the day lodge which offers a good range of rental gear including alpine skis, powder skis, snowboards, cross country skis and snowshoes. They stock mostly standard gear or you can head to the High Performance Rental Centre for spiffy equipment. The Red Mountain ski rental outlet also has skis mounted with AT bindings, avalanche beacons, probes and shovels. The prices are very reasonable.

Facilities for Children

Child minding is provided by Red Resort. Red Daycare is located in the day lodge adjacent to the rental shop, offering child care for ages 18 months to 5 years, for the full day, a half day or by the hour. The Red Mountain child care is rather inexpensive, especially if you purchase multi-day packages.

For children aged 3-5 years, it’s possible to combine the child minding with a short ski lesson.

There are also Rossland babysitters available.

Red Mountain Ski School

The Snowsports School offers a decent range of programs including group and private lessons for adults and children. Beginner packages that include a lift ticket and equipment rentals are particularly inexpensive.

Kinderski is for ages 3-5 whereby first time skiers receive a 1 hour private lesson, and others a 1.5 hour group lesson. Standard group kids’ lessons (for skiing and snowboarding) start at age 6 and consist of a 2 hour or a full day lesson including lunch.

For adults, there are the usual array of lessons along with adaptive lessons and avalanche skills training on specific dates.

Eating On Mountain

Paradise Lodge is tucked away on the Silver Sheep trail on Granite Mountain. This revamped rustic lodge has plenty of character. It’s the sort of comfortable place where you could settle in for a long afternoon in front of the wood heater. They serve hearty lunches including soups, sandwiches, and burgers from the outdoor grill. They also serve alcohol and the biggest cookies known to man or woman, and there is a microwave for BYO lunches. On sunny days the big deck is a great place to perch.

Sourdough Alley is a cafeteria in the base day lodge, serving up pretty standard cafeteria fare for a ski resort.

Keen Coffee and Wine offers hot beverages, alcoholic beverages, wraps, sandwiches and other goodies.

Upstairs in the day lodge is Rafter’s, a really cool bar that’s open for table service lunch.

At the base of the Grey chairlift is a taco truck.

Or for a really lovely lunch, head to The Velvet restaurant at The Josie Hotel. On fine days, the deck is particularly lovely.
