The facilities and services at
Revelstoke ski resort are not extensive, but more than adequate to cover most requirements. The “village” at the ski resort has developed a lot since its inception but it’s still rather small. The amenities are largely contained within one building (lift ticket sales, guest services, equipment rentals, ski school, activity centre), and a couple of other facilities are housed inside the other two Sutton Place structures (coffee shop, child care).
Revelstoke Ski Rentals and Snowboard Rental
The Revelstoke Mountain Resort rental shop is located in the main building at the base of the resort. They have standard ski rentals, lots of powder skis, regular camber all-mountain snowboards, and reverse and hybrid camber high performance powder boards. The Revelstoke Mountain Resort rental shop also has lots of backcountry gear and touring equipment, and they also do equipment repairs. Costs for rental gear at the resort are in line with pricing for most ski resorts across Canada.
There are also Revelstoke ski rental shops in town. One great example is Skookum Cycle & Ski in downtown Revelstoke (opposite the Roxy). They rent out demo powder skis, snowboards and X-country ski gear.
Facilities for Children
Revelstoke Mountain Resort has been working hard in recent years to attract families by adding more amenities for kids.
Mountain Child Care is conveniently located at the Sutton Place Hotel, providing crèche for children aged 18 months to 6 years. Child care is provided in either a half day or full day format, and ski lessons can also be added to the package for 3-6 year olds. Rates are pretty reasonable relative to many other Canadian ski resorts.
Some evenings the Kids Centre in the village offers après ski activities for kids aged 6 to 12 years such as games and craft activities.
Revelstoke Ski School
The Revelstoke ski school instructors provide traditional ski and snowboard group lessons for 2 hours for children and adults. Private lessons are provided in 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour and all day formats.
The rates for the lessons are middle of the road for a Canadian ski resort, whilst the first timer and second timer packages that include a lift pass, equipment rentals and a lesson, are very reasonably priced.
For adults, the Revelstoke ski school provides full day instruction for cat skiing and heli skiing preparation and transition. This program runs through powder skiing and tree skiing, to ensure that you’re ready to commit to cat skiing or heli skiing.
The ski school also offers a backcountry guiding service for day touring outside the resort boundaries, which caters to backcountry old-hands or newbies.
Eating On Mountain
The main day lodge (Revelation Lodge) is located near the gondola mid-station, with a large range of food on offer. The day lodge has typical cafeteria fast food options such as sandwiches, sushi, soups, wraps, chilli and the yummiest energy bars. Slow food is also on offer (and I mean slow!), which includes customised pastas, great poutine, and burgers. The day lodge also has a small licensed bar for alcoholic beverages.
Up at the top of Revelation Gondola is the Mackenzie Outpost, a small lodge selling treats to go, BBQ fare, and hot beverages. The deck is a particularly good spot to hang out on fine days.
Day time fare is also available down at the base area of Revelstoke ski resort at La Baguette coffee shop, or you can have a more formal lunch at the Rockford Bar and Grill.
