South Lake Tahoe (California) and Stateline (Nevada) have all the lodging types one could desire for the
Heavenly Ski Resort. Lodging of every kind is available, from casinos, hotels, motels, apartments and home vacation rentals.
South Lake Tahoe Hotels – California
The South Lake Tahoe lodging options vary from luxury hotels such as
The Landing to cheap motels that could be heavenly or hell!
As to be expected, you’ll tend to pay a premium for a view of the lake, and also pay more for lodging right near the Heavenly Village and gondola (for access to the
Heavenly Resort). For lodging a little further away from the gondola, there are various shuttle options to get there.
Staying in this area is ideal for those who want easy access to the
South Lake Tahoe restaurants and bars, and the Stateline casinos. There is a ski school based in the Heavenly Village, but only minimal beginner terrain at the top of the gondola. Babysitting can be organized by many of the hotels, but if you want to access the resort based child care, you’ll need to get a bus to the California Lodge (more beginner terrain there).

Stateline Casino Hotels
The casino area is located right next door in Stateline. Whilst there are many casinos, the two biggest and most convenient are Harveys and Harrah’s. Great last minute deals for Stateline hotels can be available.

California Base Lodging
The California Lodge base is primarily for day trippers with very little lodging here. The
Tahoe Seasons Resort is located here and only a 300 feet walk to the California Lodge, and even less to get to the Aerial Tramway. The Tahoe Seasons Resort has one and two bedroom suites with living area and kitchenette, and the property has an outdoor pool and hot tub.
The California Lodge has the resort owned day care facility, and the best beginners’ slopes are located at the top of the lifts that ascend from the California Lodge, so it’s a convenient location for families with small children. As the hubbub of casinos and restaurants is more than 2 miles away, it’s not such a great location if nightlife is a priority for you.
Other Heavenly Lodging - Kingsbury
On the Nevada side at the base areas are some vacation homes and condos.
Tahoe Village is near the Stagecoach Base (5.7 miles from Heavenly Village by road). A little bit of the lodging is close to the slopes, but much of it requires a walk or shuttle bus to get to the slopes. This base doesn’t have any beginner slopes or ski school and there’s not much of a “village” per se. Other than one bar, it’s really just a collection of lodgings.
Summit Village is not far away and is near the Boulder Lodge, which has weekend ski school and one beginner run. The village is just made up of lodging, so it is ideal for those who don’t need nightlife or shops.
