Facilities & Services

Tyax Heli Skiing Packages
Wagner Custome Skis
Heavenly Resort has a comprehensive assortment of facilities and services including on-mountain restaurants, ski and snowboard rental outlets, ski school and child care.

Heavenly Ski Rentals

Heavenly ski rentals and snowboard rentals are EVERYWHERE in South Lake Tahoe. Heavenly Sports has several locations – three on the hill at the ski resort base lodges, one near the gondola base, and a few in hotels/casinos. For those wishing to avoid the ‘official’ Heavenly ski rental shops, there are also ski shops across the road from the gondola and scattered around South Lake Tahoe.

Heavenly Ski Shops

In addition to the snowboard and ski rental outlets, and all the South Lake Tahoe ski shops, there are retail ski shops located at the resort. The best Heavenly ski shop is at the California Lodge base, where there is a large range of outerwear, apparel, ski and snowboard accessories, and lots of hardwear. The shop also sells lots of Heavenly logo wear and merchandise.

Facilities for Children

Day care for kids aged 6 weeks to 6 years is available at the California Lodge at the base of the Gunbarrel Express. Full day or half day programs are available, and an optional ski lesson component can be added for kids ages 3-5.

There are also various babysitting services available.

Heavenly Ski School

The Heavenly ski school has three locations, two in California (gondola base in Heavenly Village and at California Lodge) and one in Nevada near the beginner area at Boulder Lodge. For kids, group lessons are available for ages 4 and up at all three locations. Children ages 3-5 can have a combo of ski school and child care, but only at the California Lodge.

The Heavenly Ski and Ride School serves up the usual menu of group, private, adult and kids programs. For adults you have the option of full day lessons with a max of four per group, or more traditional group lessons.

Eating On Mountain

On mountain dining is available at various mid mountain locations and three base lodge locations. The chow isn’t the greatest and it’s very expensive, but it’s passable for the very hungry. Many of the on-mountain eateries are outdoors, and on snowy days the indoor day lodges are ridiculously packed, particularly at the Tamarack Lodge where pedestrians sit for ages taking up real estate.

Best views and food are at the Lakeview Lodge at the top of the Gunbarrel Express (and tram).

Avoid the burgers at the Adventure Peak Grill; they’re slap bang affairs put together with no love at all.

Après Bars

The Tamarack Lodge is popular for après ski drinks and a great way to pass the time whilst watching the queues to download the gondola. You’ll probably need to have won big at one of the casinos, because the drinks are outrageously expensive. They often have DJs and on the weekends the Heavenly Angels make an appearance. They’re nothing like the Victoria’s Angels; more skanky than angelic!

The bar at the Lakeside Lodge is a marvelous spot to perch and take in more views across Lake Tahoe.

If the sun is out, head to one of the numerous bars that adorn the Heavenly ski hill. One bar even sits under a monstrous umbrella near the top gondola station. It gets mighty crowded which is great if you’re cold or want to rub shoulders with the great unwashed.
